Dragon Ball GT’s Baby Created Dr. Myuu explained simply

Posted on June 4, 2023June 3, 2023 by CharlotteM

In the world of Dragon Ball GT, there has been much debate and confusion among fans regarding the origin of Baby and Dr. Myuu. While Baby appears to be the creation of Dr. Myuu, there are hints and backstory elements that shed light on the true nature of their relationship. By delving into the history of the Tuffle/Saiyan War, we can unravel the mysteries surrounding their origins.

Dragon Ball GT faced its fair share of criticism, but it undeniably saw an improvement in quality with the introduction of Baby as the primary antagonist. This infantile villain posed a significant threat to the Saiyan race and quickly gained popularity among fans. However, the true nature of Baby’s origin remains a source of confusion.

At first glance, it appears that Baby was created by Dr. Myuu. However, things take a twist when Baby himself claims that the opposite is true upon killing the Machine Mutant. This contradictory chronology becomes even more perplexing when considering the broader concept of the Machine Mutants. To fully grasp Baby’s creation, it is necessary to explore the original purpose behind his existence.

Baby’s creation was rooted in the Tuffles’ desire for revenge against the Saiyans. The Tuffles, who were the original inhabitants of Planet Tuffle, were at war with the Saiyans, who invaded their planet and transformed it into Planet Vegeta. As part of their retaliation, the Tuffles developed numerous parasites infused with the DNA of their last king. Baby was one of these parasites, and he returned to his homeworld in an attempt to fight against the invading forces. However, in his original form, he lacked the necessary power, leading to the assumption that his true body differed significantly from the form he later assumed in Dragon Ball GT.

The most recognizable form of Baby is that of a Machine Mutant, sharing physical traits with beings like Dr. Myuu. This form exhibits a somewhat organic appearance, despite its mechanical nature, and possesses fluid metal properties. Given Baby’s resemblance to other Machine Mutants and the fact that Dr. Myuu refers to him as his “Baby,” it is understandable why fans might believe that Myuu created the mechanical infant. However, the truth is quite the opposite—Baby had existed long before Dr. Myuu entered the picture.

The creation of Baby and the other Tuffle parasites occurred around Age 730 in the Dragon Ball Universe’s chronology. Dr. Myuu, on the other hand, came into existence ten years later, in Age 740, when he was actually constructed by Baby. As Baby later reveals, he himself created Myuu and the entire roster of Machine Mutants, all of whom were integral to his plan of destroying Vegeta and the remaining Saiyans. Although Baby proclaims this fact, the logistics of the situation can still be puzzling.

It seems that Myuu bestowed Baby with his iconic form and name, which makes it curious that Baby, in turn, created the doctor. Prior to this, it is likely that the parasitic Baby controlled the body of another being, using it as a vessel to engineer the creation of the Machine Mutants. Baby then tasked Myuu with constructing a new, more powerful body that would allow him to absorb enough life force to defeat the Saiyans. As a scientist, Myuu may have developed a paternal attachment to this new form that was growing in his laboratory, hence referring to it as his “baby.” This is further supported by Baby’s own resentment towards his name, even though it is the only name he has ever been given.

After killing Dr. Myuu, Baby unveils his master plan, emerging from his mechanical body and absorbing Myuu’s life energy. This transformation grants him the power to possess young Saiyans like Trunks, bringing him one step closer to eradicating the Saiyans. Fortunately, the de-aged Goku in his newest form in Dragon Ball GT ultimately thwarts Baby’s scheme, putting an end to the Tuffle/Machine Mutant hybrid once and for all.
